Who is Frederick Douglass?
Frederick Douglass (c. February 1818 – February 20, 1895) was a prominent American abolitionist, writer, orator, and statesman. Born into slavery in Talbot County, Maryland, Douglass escaped at the age of 20 and went on to become one of the most influential voices in the fight against slavery and for civil rights. His belief in self-determination and personal freedom is the inspiration for our organization.
"In a composite nation like ours, as before the law, there should be no rich, no poor, no high, no low, no white, no black, but common country, common citizenship, equal rights and a common destiny" - Frederick Douglass
